Snow

Snow is in the news. Chet (narrator but not a talking dog) comes upon it for the first time in The Dog Who Knew Too Much but there’s plenty more in It’s A Wonderful Woof and Up on the Woof Top, the Chet and Bernie Christmas/holiday novels.

“Snow, big guy.”

Snow? I’d heard of it, of course, seen it lots of times on TV during the divorce, when for some reason Bernie had really gotten into skiing videos. The snow sent coldness up into the air. I sniffed at it. Snow went right up my nose! I sneezed. Bernie laughed. I licked at the snow. It turned into water on my tongue, although not much water. Bernie picked some up and patted it – hey! – patted it into the shape of a ball. Yes! One thing about Bernie: just when you think he’s done with amazing you, he amazes you again. Now, after all this time, I was just finding out he could turn snow into a ball. I knew what was coming next, one of my favorite feelings.

  1. Greetings!

Snow in this neck of the woods is pretty much gone, so not enough for even the smallest snowball. Wish I could have been at the Mall yesterday for the big snowball fight…Looked like a lot of fun. Also wish I could have played in the snow with Franklin and Abby.

A much needed wonder fluffing today.

    Make today awesome!

  2. I’ve never lived in snow but have visited it both locally and distantly. When I took a trip to Boston (for New Year’s) there was snow, evenly distributed but not very deep. Still with some diligence I did manage to gather up enough of it to build “tiny persons of snow” on the doorstep where I was staying. They were only about 8 inches high but still recognizable, like something out of Calvin and Hobbs. (boy I miss those comics)

For those wishing to extend the season a bit, today is Orthodox Christmas day.

Also Harlem Globetrotters day which is neither baseball or Boston but it’s a thing.
