Christmas Eve Day! The greater joy can be in the anticipation, as Keats pointed out: “Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter.” I would say this isn’t true for Chet (canine narrator of the #ChetandBernie #mystery series, the joy being equal in his case.

Greetings!
Christmas Eve day, and it is snowing in this neck of the woods. Very pretty and festive! :^)
Good day to all!
Good day to all.
We had heavy fog last night after midnight and it’s damp this morning. It’s currently 58 and what I call a heavy dew for the next half hour which is basically a useless very light rain that doesn’t do anything to water the plants.
Not working outside today.
It’s National Eggnog Day and I have a carton in the refrigerator so i will be partaking of that today, finishing off the Welsh Rarebit for lunch and having a BLT for dinner. I’ve got no prep for tomorrow except for thawing and then cooking the little boneless turkey breast I bought. Everything else except the appetizer is pre-made, even the mashed potatoes thanks to the deli section at my local store. I will be doctoring them a bit with butter and milk. I even managed to find brown and serve rolls! Store brand but better than having to make them from scratch. The appetizer will be easy as I’ll only have to do a little chopping:
Pomegranate seeds
red onion – finely chopped
jalapeño – gutted, cleaned and finely chopped
cilantro – finely chopped
lime juice
combine all of above
cream cheese
Milton’s original whole grain crackers.
Spread cream cheese on cracker, top with pomegranate salsa.
Tomorrow I plan to basically nibble all day with a major nibble of the turkey dinner in the middle somewhere, then more nibbling for the rest of the day. I kept some of the best of the Christmas cookies so I will be able to enjoy the fruits of my labor too. Baking is done. Tomorrow back to the fence.
Best of all, I will have leftover turkey. I like turkey even better than chicken. I’ll be doing sandwiches and am going to try my hand at a turkey pot pie again. Still haven’t quite got the gravy to filling ratio correct but I’m working on it.
May everyone enjoy their holidays in whatever way pleases them best and don’t forget to kiss your furry companions on the nose from me. (Tell Franklin it is from Freyja.)
It looks like WTAFP will get us on the Nice list this year for services rendered in caring for our Lady’s father. We still harnessed up to help Santa deliver gifts as community service for misdeeds that proceeded Coach’s cancer diagnosis.
Thieves. Got you covered, no worries. And to all, a merry Christmas Eve. We are watching one of our favorite Christmas movies just now — A Dig Named Christmas. Franklin is fully engrossed.
