I never read any novels to my dogs but I do have a collection of children’s picture books, some of which are dogs and when a new one would arrive I would read to them. I’m sure they were listening, just resting their eyes and picturing the books in their minds. I haven’t read to Freyja. Diana is the only one not interested. She would be polite for a bit, then go off and do her thing. Ramses was always very attentive.
It is Dewey Decimal System day! Librarians rejoice and celebrate.
Also Nobel Prize day.
I set my second fence post yesterday. Today I’m putting the top runners on. From now on it is easy sailing as I have made gates and fence sections before and it is all wood stuff. No more metal or concrete, just clean cutting of wood and assembly.
I’m also making bourbon balls.
Rum Balls or Bourbon Balls:
1/2 lb vanilla wafers, crushed
1 cup walnuts or pecan pieces
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup rum or bourbon
2 TBSP cocoa
Mix all ingredients. Let stand. Roll into balls, roll in powdered sugar. (Oil hands to prevent sticking.) Roll a second time and store in cookie tin.
Makes approximately 4 dozen.
Kirsch Bombs:
Substitute Kirsch for rum/bourbon above
Substitute Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa for cocoa above.
It’s Gingerbread House day. And Gingerbread decorating day. Not doing that in the U.S. way. No houses or men.
Not even doing National Ambrosia day even though I love it. My Mom never made it so I loved church pot luck dinners. Someone always brought it.
But I will be making Lebkuchen, but in a few days. If I have the time I will make Pfeffernuss today but it’s last on the list. I am starting with home made candied orange and lemon peels. At long last.

Good day to all.
Robert appears to be living the good life. Don’t cross Chet, though! He doesn’t suffer cats gladly.
You can tell Robert enjoys being read to.
How many others read aloud to their pets?

Caution, The kirsch bombs are really strong.
Well, glad to see the website is back. That was scary.
