  1. Nice shirt.

Although I think for the book tour a Hawaiian shirt should be worn.

It is National Waffle day. I only have pancake mix and no waffle maker. At least none where I can get at it.

It is also National Peach Pie Day. I’ve been eating my peaches as they are removed from the tree. 4 to start, then 2 and another 2 yesterday. I just eat them fresh, no cooking or modifications. I think there are three left but not ready yet. And then there will be none until next year. Really looking forward to a bigger crop. then maybe I’ll try some sort of tart or jam or something.

Eighteen years ago today. (2006) Pluto was demoted from a planet to a dwarf planet. Still bitter about it. Pluto, you will always be a planet to me.

  2. Couldn’t agree more on Pluto. A real shame.

I remember in our back yard growing up in Albuquerque the most wonderful peach tree that literally produced bushels of peaches per year, and which my grandfather planted from a single peach pit.

    1. I was lazy and bought a tree. I don’t think I would want to grow a tree from the sorry excuses they sell in the stores anyway. This is a Red Baron and they are delicious, free stone, self pollinating and apparently don’t last long or travel well so you don’t find them in the stores. The flowers in the spring are a fabulous deep magenta, hence the name. I am very pleased with it as I only planted it last June and this year I have peaches. Only a dozen but still.

The apricot has yet to provide any fruit. It has been warned so we’ll see if it steps up next year.
