Last night in Doo-Dah

Thanks to Watermark Books & Cafe and all who came last night on the tour for A Farewell to Arfs. Great questions and no one threw anything, always my metric for a successful event. In addition a man in the audience explained the origins of Doo-Dah as a nickname for Wichita, but if I had to take a test on it I wouldn’t do well. There was some discussion of A Cat Was Involved, the #ChetandBernie origin digital and audio short story. So here’s what it looks like in the audio version.

  1. Greetings!

No ducking or dodging projectiles…The sign of a splendid time had by all. :^)

    Like the audio book cover.

Big Tiny: I am still pondering the 2025 calendar.

    Good day to all!

  2. It is National Lemon Juice day and National Chop Suey day. I am not inspired by either, although I do love me some lemonade and would make some if I had enough lemons. My Eureka is dead and my Meyer isn’t doing that well. I am trying to practice More Herbs, Less Salt day. We tend to consume more salt than we need to so for health reasons I am trying to limit my salt intake more and use more spices and herbs. In some things. I don’t mess with bread as bread is science and the balance of all of the ingredients is what produces a superior loaf. I’m not so obsessive I get into the nuances of hydration but I do know the amount of flour to water to salt is important and not to be trifled with. For other baking you can get away with a bit less, depending and for cooking you can do some very creative things with herbs and spices. I got into it when I was cooking for my Mom, who was supposed to be on a low sodium diet.

It is also National Sports day. With OFA likely home again perhaps he’ll be taking the bike out for a spin or playing a bit of tennis.

I will be pruning my Sweet Bay Laurel tree. I’m not at the Olympic level yet but am working my way up from casual amateur.

  3. Wose! Understand about the calendar. Circumstances have changed and that makes it even harder to do. I have always loved it but no pressure if you decide to discontinue. Just don’t leave us, ok?
