  1. Greetings!

Every year I want to prolong the holiday spirit by keeping our Christmas tree up, but unfortunately it is hard to do when your apartment has limited space. :^)

    Create a good day!

  2. We usually keep ours up to somewhere between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, although we try to get ours up early if we can, normally the first week of December, so we do have a good run. Our ornaments are a mixture of some from my wife’s childhood (given to her by her mom when we got married); many from our travels around the world including most recently Antarctica; a few with a southwestern theme (my New Mexico heritage) and a lot devoted to the nation within, including two lovely ones of books written by OFA.

Got a dusting of snow here this afternoon here (what they refer to as conversational snow); looks like we will get him more substantially on Monday. Right now the forecasts are all over the place, running as high as 9-11 inches, while others are in the 3-5 inch range. Whichever turns out to be the case, it will definitely be more than we have gotten in the past few years. Wookie and Teddy both experienced significant snowstorms during their lifetimes; the video of Teddy and Zeta was filmed following a fairly significant snowfall as the video would have shown, and for Wookie, he lived through two storms know “affectionally” as Snowmaggedon an Snowpocalypse, two of the most significant storms to hit the DC area ever. I think a couple of photos of Wookie in snow about 18 inches deep would have been posted on the blog several years ago; I’ll see if I can dig them out for a Pfriday Photo piece. Franklin saw some limited snow when his bud Lorenzo was staying with us back in the winter of 2021-22, but that was at just at the 1-2 inch level, so this should be a real treat for him.

    1. I would usually get my tree about a week before Christmas and leave it up until Jan 6. One year I waited too long and ended up getting a free tree from a charity giveaway the day before Christmas because that is the only place I could get a tree. What can I say, it was a busy year.

All of “my” ornaments are still at my parent’s house. The childhood ones. I doubt I’ll ever see them again. Occasionally I search eBay for some but it’s difficult. many where sent from Germany by my Grandmother and a few where home made so no way to find duplicates. At least I do have the stocking my Mother made for me and all of the dog stockings I made over the years.

I started collecting the old world style mercury glass ornaments when I first moved out. Only a few a year. All sorts of themes but dogs whenever I found them. Then when Hallmark started I collected the dog ones every year since I got Caesar (Except one year when they decided not to make one. Boy was that a marketing mistake.) Since I have had dogs for over 30 years I have a lot and a few extras. I got Superman for Ramses and Wonder Woman for Diana. When I have two dogs (like Caesar & Goliath or Diana & Freyja) I alternate whose photo gets put in the frame.

And of course I have the original It’s a Wonderful Woof, plus Up on the Wooftop and Santa 365. Someday I might make ornaments for all of the books now that I know how.

I’ll bet Franklin is thrilled the snow is starting; can’t wait until it deep enough to roll, dig and bounce through.

I’ve often wondered how Freyja would react to snow. I know Diana would hate it. She doesn’t like the water and I suspect wouldn’t like the snow either. She is fussy about her feet.

It’s clear and dry here. We are going to have a dry winter so I will still have to water. It’s finally getting into the 60s during the day, some cloud cover, but next week it is going to creep into the 70s again.

  3. I already have the digital of Woof Top. Whenever there is a sale, I check and add.

It is Women Rock! Day, apologies to Hutch, Page and Bowie.

Also Fruit Cake Toss day and National Chocolate Covered Cherry day.

I still have some Lebkuchen left but no way am I tossing it. It gets better with age and is at it’s peak right now.

  4. Where’s Phriday Photos?
I didn’t decorate, so now I have the wonderful pleasure of not having to undecorate! Yay! 🧑🏻‍🎄

  5. Mom has started taking down Christmas. There is less pressure taking things down because if it stays up an extra day, it’s no problem. Our trees (we have three) go up last and come down first. Mom says it is the price she pays for having the house of many cats. This year she was very proud of all of us. No ornaments were broken and no tree was climbed!

  6. WTAFP would have 3 of the Chet and Bernie ornaments except he very graciously gave one of his to Mom. She remembers how generous he was everytime she puts those ornaments on the tree🎄❣️
