Beginnings

Sunday is for beginnings, when we take a look at the start of a Peter Abrahams novel, including those written under the Spencer Quinn moniker™. Since the audio version of Up on the Woof Top is now on sale, why don’t we go with it? For newcomers, the #ChetandBernie series can be read in any orders, thanks to our secret process (patent pending).

Uh-oh.

Most perps turn out to be reasonable in the end. They know, for example, the moment a case is closed, namely when I grab them by the pant leg. Pant leg grabbing is one of my specialties at the Little Detective Agency, Little on account of that’s my partner Bernie’s last name. Do I even have a last name? I’ve never heard it, but if there’s a change, I’ll let you know. Till then just think of me as Chet, pure and simple.

Maybe you’re wondering, but Chet, what about the unreasonable perps?

  1. Greetings!

If I was a perp in Chet’s world, I certainly would not enjoy being grabbed by the pantleg by him. Heh! :^)

    Good afternoon to all!

  2. I am still waiting for that visit to the vet where Chet’s name is called and he discovers his name is Chet Little! Just like Bernie.

For OFA, today is English Language day.

It is National M&M day and Yorkshire Pudding day.

There are actually two Yorkshire Pudding days. One in February for the UK and today for the U.S. and the rest of the world. Here in the U.S. we sometimes call them Popovers. I made Popovers once and was not impressed. Maybe I made them wrong or maybe I didn’t add stuff to make them taste better. By themselves they weren’t that great.

For some of us it is National No Bra day. For some of us every day is no bra day.

  3. Jilly is on the road to recovery after her spay ordeal. We slept on the sofa bed for two nights to comfort her with her cone of shame. (She usually sleeps in her kennel and the cone would not fit in it.). I ordered a recovery suit for her and it finally arrived. What a godsend! She cannot reach her incision to lick, and the cone is banished! I would post a picture if I could. She is still recovering, but we see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I love the typo in OFA’s post. “Any orders” anyone? Marketing par excellence!

    1. You’ve done it now.

She isn’t going to be sleeping in that kennel any more. Cone or no cone she is going to want to snuggle in the bed with you every night, no matter where that bed is.

And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that.

I have never heard of a recovery suit, but then every dog I have had has already been spayed or neutered when I got them. Caesar and Ramses did both have some minor surgeries to remove some lumps but I used a donut with Ramses and Caesar was at an age where he couldn’t reach that location to lick. I did tape some baby socks on him to deter scratching which worked. A recovery suit is something I will need to remember in case it is needed in the future. Look kinda like bunny jammies for dogs.
