Where you take over and I put my feet up. Send to peter.b.abrahams@gmail.com. And now, over to Bob Edwards (the brains behind Song For Chet, the real song that came out of Heart of Barkness, on Spotify, I believe, and you can check out the YouTube video). And now, over to you, Bob!
Here we have George and his lifelong pal Finn spooning on the couch after a hard day of synchronized gopher hunting on a hilltop near Mendocino. Sadly, George is no longer with us and we miss him every day, but our new dude Archie is stepping up to the plate. George was to Finn as Chet is to Iggy. Except for the yip-yip-yipping part.
Finn’s alive and well, and currently working solo. He and Archie are considering a bromance, but a few details need to be worked out first, like ball-ownership issues, dog bed protocol, etc.
George and Finn can be seen on gopher duty in the first verse of Song for Chet (songforchet.video). George also makes a cameo appearance in the second verse under Peter’s wonderful lyric, “Your big brown eyes say this each and every day, I’ll always love you any way.”

Greetings!
Lovin’ the photos of George and Finn, and their story! Those big brown eyes slay me…
Create a good day!
Great pals!
Good day to all.
So sorry to hear that George has crossed the bridge, although I am sure he found joy and love and lots of holes to dig on the other side. I did not realize that George (with his buddy Finn) were the diggers in the early frame of the Song for Chet video, but certainly his later cameo with his big brown eyes staring out at you — truly one of the most memorable scenes in the video. Good boy George, and be sure to say hi to Wookie, Casey and Teddy when you see them.
What a great tribute to George. I hope Finn and Archie work out their differences. They may never be as close as Finn and George but eventually they will work things out.
And George and Finn will live on forever in Song for Chet. I will confess I am subscribed and every once in a while I go back and watch the video.
Coincidentally, it is International Stand Up to Bullying day.
It is also the start of Fasching, which is an extended festival starting November 11 at 11:11 am and ending on February 28, the end of Winter. A parade and wearing costumes is involved. Sorta like Mardi Gras but not really. Pre-dates Christianity but is now a primarily Christian celebration. I am tempted to make a Mardi Gras feast but not sure I will manage to get it done before Tuesday. I would have to bake a special Muffaletta loaf of bread as it can’t be purchased where I am. I’d have to go to a deli to get the fillings. I would have to make the special secret sauce (although I do have the special mustard ingredient), make some crab cakes and of course a King’s cake. All just for me. Not sure it’s worth it as I have no cultural connection to that actual Mardi Gras except for the Muffaletta being of Italian derivation. I doubt my Mother ever celebrated Fasching.
I love the story of George and Finn! Hopefully, Archie will eventually be totally accepted.
