Boom!

Today in college football – and if you’ve never gone to a college football game at any level you should even if you know nothing about the sport – UMass Amherst (my home state) plays Georgia Bulldogs. This seems weird to me. Good luck Minutemen and you’ll need oodles. Meanwhile UGA has the #1 mascot: UGA XI, also known as Boom.

  1. It was not that long ago that I realized where Uga’s name came from. Sometimes it takes me a moment. That house he’s in is air conditioned because bulldogs have that ‘smashed-in-the-face-with-a-cast-iron-skillet’ snout and have problems breathing, especially in Georgia’s hot and humid weather. In case you didn’t get the name reference either, it’s initials of University of Georgia. I’m not happy with them as they beat Tennessee last Saturday, damn their hides! SEC battles are quite competitive. Go Vols! (Which is short for Volunteers, originating with the role of volunteers in the Tennessee militia during the war of 1812 & the Mexican-American war.
