It’s Saturday. The weather is fine. Looks like a lovely area. Enjoy your ride on that “new” bike.
The high today will be 69 and sunny. Looks like we might get a bit of rain. 60% chance between 11pm and 1am and then 60% chance again between 5am and 7am. I doubt it is going to be enough to do any good to the plants. I just have to make sure there is no laundry on the line.
There is only one mail piece for which there is no image on my USPS Informed Delivery. I’m not unlocking the gate. If it isn’t a bill, magazine or a catalog I want, then I don’t want it. I suspect it is voting advertising (of which there hasn’t been that much, surprisingly) and I’ve already voted so not interested. Not that I pay any attention to the flyers anyway. I do my own research. It will be 69 again tomorrow but then it is going to warm up into the low to mid 70s for the next ten days. The nights will dip into the high 40s briefly but then go back up into the 50s. Wouldn’t you know that the pumpkins I planted in JUNE are now starting to get fruit. They should have gotten fruit and been ripe by end of September. I have no idea why they were basically two months late doing anything. I have one lone watermelon that is a pretty good size but not ripe yet so I’m leaving that. I’m holding off on starting my winter seedlings as they’ll sprout in 10 days and right now I have no place to put them. I did plant spinach in one planter I have as I am hoping to harvest by New Year’s. I want to make Steak Au Poivre for my New Year’s celebration. For Christmas I will probably just do a turkey breast, not a whole bird. For Thanksgiving I have decided to go to the Kaiserhof like I did last year. The meal was great and I don’t want to burn out on cooking when I have a lot of Christmas baking planned for this year. I just found a recipe for making home made Mozartkugeln, a copycat of the Mirabel brand that s my favorite. Going to try it and if they work out, I may never have to buy them again, plus I can have them any time of the year.
Today is All Soul’s Day or the Day of the Dead. I’m remembering Caesar, who died just two days after Veteran’s Day, November 13, and Ramses, who died on Thanksgiving night, November 23 that year. I still miss them both. But today I am spending time with my girls in the yard. No mail to speak of so locking the gate for the weekend and cutting up tree prunings. Going to fill the green bin and both cans.
It is National Deviled Egg day. I just made a year’s supply of pesto so I might just make some pesto deviled eggs. Very easy. It’s the yolk, mayo and pesto, mix it up and then return it to the hard boiled white. They may look a bit funny but they taste fabulous.
It is also World Ballet day. One of the sports I am just fine with observing rather than participating in. Yes, it is an art too. Perhaps a viewing of The Red Shoes, Leslie Caron’s The Glass Slipper, or any film with Mikhail Baryshnikov is in order.
