Shelf Talkers!

Shelf talkers! A great American invention, not quite up to the level of the Wright Brothers, but still. Do they get your attention? Here’s one from Elayne Carringer, manager of a Barnes & Noble in PA. Thanks for sending this, Elayne!

  1. Greetings!

If I were a bookstore employee, I would love being a shelf talker! :^)

Happy “Back to the Future” day…a great and clever film!

  2. A great invention and a boon to browsers. Of course, after that initial attention-grabber I also appreciate the book covers, which offer a bit more info. Great invention those too. Now that we have the internet and Amazon, I also rely on reviews left by readers and recommendations from blog posts and news articles. I know when the internet and e-books came out predictors said that libraries would be obsolete, bookstores would close and publishers would go out of business because no one would buy books anymore. None of that happened. Amazon and Barnes and Noble seem to be doing fine.

It’s Everyone Writes day. I know who is writing today and what he is writing. Well, not specifically but one would hope it has something to do with a PI and his faithful, observant companion K-9 school dropout.

It is National Apple day and National Pumpkin Cheesecake day. Thumbs up on the former and ambivalent about the latter.

Lastly, it is National Pets for Veterans day. That would certainly include Bernie Little although Chet is hardly a pet, more of a partner.
